How to use Paint Calculator
Enter paintable surface area in square meters, the paint manufacturer's coverage in m² per liter per coat, number of coats and an optional allowance.
How Paint Calculator calculates the result
Base paint liters = surface area × number of coats ÷ coverage in square meters per liter per coat. Multiply by (1 + allowance percentage ÷ 100). Actual coverage depends on paint and surface conditions.
Example
A 100 m² surface at 10 m² per liter per coat needs 20 liters for two coats, or 22 liters with 10% extra.
What to know
Actual usage varies with surface porosity, primer, color, spray versus roller application, and waste. Exclude window/door areas manually if appropriate and follow product labels.
